The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The maps illustrate the comparison of a public park when it opened in 1920 with the present-day park.
Overall, the park changed substantially over the period. Several new features such as children's play area, water feature and cafe, were added. In addition fountain and stage for musicians were replaced with rose garden and amphitheatre for concerts respectively.
In 1920, the fountain was at the center in the grange park and it has two entrance each at the front of the fountain, and on its left side there was stage for musicians. On the top right cornor there is a pond water plants and the glasshouse is on the bottom right side while the seats is on the both top and bottom corners of the left side near the rose garden.
In today grange park the central fountain is replaced with square rose garden having seats on each side and the stage for musician is replaced with amphitheatre for concerts. The pond for water plants is replace with children's play area and rose garden is replaced with cafe on the right of the northern entrance, while the entrance gate is at the same location and the entrance underground car park is in the bottom-right corner. The galsshouse is replaced with water feature.
