Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the main changes between 1920 and today, noting the retention of the main entrances and one rose garden, as well as the addition of a café, children's play area, and amphitheatre. However, there are notable misinterpretations of the visual data; for instance, the opening sentence refers to a 'public transport' instead of a public park, and the description of the central features contains confusion regarding the rearrangement of seats and rose gardens. The overview is somewhat weak, lacking a comprehensive summary of the transformation. While the response identifies several key spatial shifts, the lack of precision and under-development of certain comparisons pull it into the band 5 range.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text suffers from a lack of effective paragraphing and logical progression. The response is divided into a brief introductory sentence, a long and crowded middle paragraph containing multiple distinct spatial changes, and a final fragmentary sentence that merely repeats information already stated. Cohesive devices are minimal and basic, heavily relying on transitional markers like 'Firslty,' 'Moreover,' and 'Furthemore,' some of which are misspelled. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the exact spatial relationships between the features in 1920 and today. Overall organisation is disjointed, corresponding to a band 5 level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and frequently hindered by inaccurate word choices and spelling errors. For example, the student writes 'public transport' instead of 'public park' in the opening sentence. Other spelling and lexical errors include 'reamined' for remained, 'Firslty' for Firstly, 'whih' for which, 'allocatd' for allocated, 'fountaind' for fountain, 'ampitheatre' for amphitheatre, and 'buily' for built. While the student attempts some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'amphitheatre,' 'cafe,' and 'water feature,' the frequent errors and restricted flexibility constrain the lexical score to band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The text contains numerous errors in subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and sentence structure. Examples include 'the seats which was on the both sides', 'stage for musician whih was allocatd', and missing main verbs or fragmented clauses. Complex sentence structures are attempted but are frequently faulty and awkward, leading to communication strain. Punctuation is also problematic, particularly with run-on sentences and missing terminal punctuation in places. These persistent errors place the grammar performance firmly at band 5.
