Student answer (Band 5.0)
The first blueprint demonstrates the structure of a public park when it first opened in 1920. However, the second plan map's the same park today.
In 1920 the main focus of the park is more on natural elements, that results in a peaceful and calm envirnment. On the other hand, today's park focuses on practicality, creating specified places for people of all ages.
Modren era park consists of three rose gardens, a glasshouse, a pond for water plants and seats for visiters. The focus is more on creating a peacful, beautiful, and natural envirnment, where one can escapes from their worries. A perfect place for a walk, reading a book or admiring natural beauty. In addition, the center of the park consists on a fountain and along side the fountain a stage for musicians can be found. The stage is surrounded by seats from all sides, creating an easy access for the viewers.
On the other side, contemprory park allocates a specific area to a specific age group. For instance, a play area for children, a setting area arround rose garden for people of old ages, and an amphitheatre for concerts, usally prefered by young people. Furthermore, a cafe is also avalible in the park for snacks and late evening coffee. The park also includes water feature that adds to its beauty. In addition, an underground car park area is also included for aany visiters with cars.
In conclusion, same parks serves different purposes over the years. In 1920 the park worked as a place one use to have a peacful breath. However, with the passage of time the park features and practicality improved.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe the two maps of Grange Park, but it suffers from a significant misunderstanding of the visual data. In the third paragraph, the student describes features of the 1920 park as belonging to the 'modern era park' (e.g., mentioning three rose gardens, a glasshouse, and a pond for water plants, which were actually features of the 1920 layout). Similarly, features from the current park are mixed up or misplaced in the description. There is no clear, cohesive overview provided that effectively contrasts the main overall changes between the two time periods. Because the reporting of the features is largely inaccurate and confuses the past and present layouts, this meets the criteria for Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into logical paragraphs with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each map, and a conclusion. However, the progression within the body paragraphs is confusing due to the incorrect assignment of features to the different time periods. While some basic cohesive devices are used (such as 'On the other hand', 'For instance', and 'In addition'), referencing is frequently unclear because it is hard to follow which map the student is referring to. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow is hindered by data confusion. This performance aligns with Band 5.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a basic working vocabulary with some attempts at less common words and phrases, such as 'practicality', 'contemporary', and 'amphitheatre'. However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the text (e.g., 'envirnment', 'map's', 'Modren', 'visiters', 'peacful', 'escapes', 'contemprory', 'usally', 'avalible', 'aany'). Word choice is also occasionally inaccurate, such as using 'blueprint' for a park map. These lexical errors and frequent misspellings occasionally impede communication and restrict the score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent tense inconsistencies and grammatical errors, such as 'the second plan map's the same park today', 'the main focus of the park is more on natural elements, that results in', and 'one can escapes'. Preposition and article errors also occur regularly (e.g., 'consists on a fountain', 'setting area arround'). Because frequent grammatical errors cause strain for the reader and simple structures are more reliable than attempted complex ones, a band score of 5.0 is appropriate.
