Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by outlining the main changes between 1920 and today, such as the replacement of the fountain with a rose garden and the addition of the amphitheatre and children's play area. However, some aspects of the task are treated less fully than others. For example, descriptions of certain locations are slightly unclear or contain inaccuracies regarding spatial arrangements, such as stating that the glasshouse was in the south west rather than the south-east corner. Furthermore, while an overview is attempted in the introduction, it lacks sufficient extension and detail to fully satisfy higher bands. Ideas are relevant, but certain features require more precise reporting to present a fully developed picture of the transformations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, central features, and eastern/southern additions. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Transitions between sentences and ideas can feel abrupt, and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in expressions like "While, today's" and fragmented sentences such as "Which is surrounded by seats." Paragraphing is utilized to group related changes, but the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical links, holding the response back from a more fluid organizational standard.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating basic comparisons regarding the park's layout. The writer attempts less common vocabulary items, such as "amphitheatre," "amenities," and "construction," but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and word form. Examples include spelling errors like "presant" and "fetures," incorrect lexical choices such as "pond foe water plants" and "south-easten," and awkward collocations. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score because of recurrent slips in spelling and precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the control over grammar is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense consistency, and prepositions within grammatical patterns, such as "The park illustrate," "the fountain was located from the middle-centre," and "gas been remained." Additionally, article usage is occasionally faulty, and punctuation issues occur around dependent clauses. While these errors rarely completely obscure the meaning, their frequency across both simple and complex forms prevents the writing from achieving a higher level of grammatical accuracy.
