Student answer (Band 5.5)

Provided Maps of parks shows how a park has been changed over the time, comparision time period is from 1920 to present.

Overall it is quiet evident, the park has been changed completely over the time as well as some areas have not been changed such as rose garden and entrance, whereas there are many facilities have been added over the time like water feature, playing area for children as well as Amphitheater for concerts.

Firstly, few things have been completley replaced over the time like stage for musicians has been changed with Amphitheater for concerts apart from that fountain which is replaced with water feature and also relocated from middle of park to the corner, whiles seat arrangements have been also changed, which is placed around the rose garden which is relocated in the middle of garden.

Going to new facilities, there are new playing area for children, which is replaced with old pond for water plants as well as the rose garden beside the old pond has been replaced with new Cafe, however they built new underground car parking which is one of the biggest developments ever.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main features of the maps, noting both changes and areas that remained the same, such as the rose garden and entrances. However, the development is somewhat limited and contains some inaccuracies or confusion regarding spatial relationships, such as stating that the fountain was relocated to the corner when the maps show a central rose garden, and describing the new rose garden as relocated in the middle of the garden. While an overview is present, the ideas are presented with a limited level of detail and some under-developed comparisons, placing the response in the mid-range for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response attempts to organise information logically by dividing the content into an overview, general changes, and specific new facilities, utilizing transition markers such as 'Firstly' and 'Going to new facilities'. However, the overall progression lacks seamless flow, and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'which is placed around the rose garden which is relocated in the middle of garden'. Cohesive devices are sometimes repetitive or mechanically applied, and paragraphing could be managed more effectively to group related spatial features together for greater clarity.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer uses an adequate vocabulary range to describe the changes, attempting less common phrases such as 'completley replaced' and 'underground car parking'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, including spelling mistakes like 'comparision' instead of comparison, 'quiet evident' instead of quite evident, 'completley', and 'playing area' instead of play area. These errors reflect a limited range and occasional strain on the reader, though communication of the overall message is still achieved.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response exhibits a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on basic clauses joined by coordinating conjunctions or relative pronouns. Attempts at complex sentences frequently result in awkward phrasing or grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('Provided Maps of parks shows', 'fountain which is replaced'), incorrect prepositions ('over the time' instead of over time), and faulty subject-verb agreement. Frequent errors in punctuation and grammar are present throughout the text, which occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and keep the score at this level.
