Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the central fountain becoming a rose garden, the pond becoming a children’s play area, and the stage and glasshouse being replaced by an amphitheatre and water feature. You also attempt an overall summary of the park’s development. However, the overview is vague, and some details are inaccurate or unclear: the café replaces a rose garden along the northern edge, not simply “Instead of rose garden,” and the underground car park is indicated by an entrance outside the park rather than described as a new park facility. You omit other useful comparisons, such as the north-west rose garden remaining and the seating surrounding the new central garden. A clearer overview and more precise coverage of the main changes would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has separate paragraphs and uses basic signposting such as “Similarly,” “Apart from this,” and “To contrast,” so the reader can recognise an attempt to organise the information. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph combines several major changes without a clear organising principle, while the later paragraphs move between 1920 and today without systematically comparing locations. Some linking phrases are awkward or do not express the intended relationship, and the final “Overall” repeats the general idea of change rather than synthesising the key features. Grouping the information into an overview followed by clear comparisons of the northern, central, and western/southern areas would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “fountain,” “pond for water plants,” “children’s play area,” and “amphitheatre for concerts,” which helps communicate the main transformations. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “cafe shop,” “attraction places,” and “big transformation.” Spelling errors, including “Fom,” “Garange,” and “buiit,” also reduce clarity and control. Repetition of general words such as “changes,” “park,” and “facilities” limits precision. Aim to use accurate location and change vocabulary, for example, “was replaced by,” “in the north-east corner,” and “remained unchanged,” while checking spelling and choosing natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including “Similarly, stage for musicians and glass house was transformed…” and “Instead of rose garden in the year 1920, cafe shop was buiit…”. However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. Examples include “a public park have changes,” which has incorrect agreement and verb form, and “there are number of seats… and had three rose garden,” where the tense, article, and plural forms are not controlled. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly where sentences run together after “today.” Use past simple for the 1920 plan and present simple for the current plan, and check subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence punctuation.
