Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main change from a traditional park to one with newer facilities, and you compare several features accurately: the central fountain becomes a rose garden, the pond site becomes a children’s play area, and the glasshouse site becomes a water feature. The entrances on Arnold Avenue and Eldon Street are also correctly described as unchanged. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the third 1920 rose garden was along the northern edge east of the entrance, not in the north-east corner, and the present-day café occupies that northern-edge site. The overview is weakened by subjective comments such as “look good” and by the unclear final list. Include the retained north-west rose garden and describe the overall layout changes more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: it introduces the comparison, describes the 1920 plan, then the present-day plan, and ends with an overview. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information. Within paragraphs, however, ideas are often joined mechanically with repeated “and,” “there is,” and “also,” as in the long sequence describing the old park. Some references are difficult to follow, particularly “left side of the fountain,” which depends on an unstated viewpoint, and “there is rose garden replaced the fountain.” The final overview also repeats earlier details rather than clearly synthesising the main changes. Group features by location or by what was replaced, and use clearer linking and reference.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a park plan, including “entrance,” “fountain,” “stage for musicians,” “amphitheatre,” and “children’s play area.” These terms help communicate the main features, but the range of accurate descriptive language is limited, and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make parts less clear. Examples include “sitting arrangement was arranged,” “completely changed,” and “upgraded to amphitheatre”; more precise choices would be “seating was located,” “has undergone substantial changes,” and “was replaced by an amphitheatre.” Errors such as “fountian,” “compli etly,” and “warer” also reduce clarity. Build a small set of accurate verbs for map changes, such as “remained,” “was relocated,” and “was replaced by.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including comparisons with “although” and “in place of,” so there is some variety. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make several sentences difficult to read. For example, “The plan show” should be “The plans show,” “there was three rose garden” needs plural agreement, and “there is rose garden replaced the fountain” needs a clearer structure, such as “A rose garden replaced the fountain.” Tense is also inconsistent in “how it’s look in present time.” Use the past simple for the 1920 plan and the present simple for today, and check each sentence for a clear subject and verb. More accurate complex sentences would improve control.
