Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You cover both the 1920 plan and the present-day layout, and your overview identifies the main transformation: the central fountain has become a rose garden with seating, while new recreational features have been added. You also make relevant comparisons, such as the pond becoming a children’s play area and the glasshouse site becoming a water feature. Most locations are reported accurately. To make the account more fully developed, clarify a few details: the central rose garden is singular, and the underground car-park entrance is indicated at the south-east corner rather than described as a car park being built. You could also mention that the north-west rose garden remains and that the park’s two street entrances are retained. Overall, the key changes are clear and supported with relevant details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on the original plan and one on the current layout. This makes the comparison easy to follow, and sequencing phrases such as “In 1920” and “Currently” help distinguish the two time periods. You also use contrast effectively in “However, one rose garden…” to identify a feature that remains unchanged. At times, however, the progression becomes list-like, particularly in the 1920 paragraph, where several details are joined with repeated “Moreover” and “Furthermore.” Some references, such as “there” in the final comparison, could be more explicit. Grouping changes by area or by what was replaced would create smoother links and a more flexible flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of vocabulary for describing a park plan, including “replaced,” “surrounded,” “western side,” “redeveloped,” and “unchanged.” These choices help communicate both locations and changes, and the meaning is generally clear. However, some word choices and collocations are imprecise: “current rearrangements” is less natural than “current layout,” and “four seating place” does not describe the seating clearly. There are also spelling errors in words such as “illustates,” “childern,” and “amphithreatre,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for consistent, precise labels from the plan, such as “seats” and “entrance,” and check spelling carefully. This would make your adequate range more reliable and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including relative clauses such as “which is surrounded by benches” and a contrast introduced by “However.” The main ideas remain understandable, but errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, and agreement recur. For example, “it current rearrangements” needs a possessive form, while “one rose garden … is remained unchanged” uses an incorrect passive construction. In “there was a also a glass house,” the article is duplicated, and “Currently, park has undergone” needs an article. Some sentences also run together or begin with “And,” making punctuation and sentence boundaries less controlled. Review these patterns and aim to produce more consistently accurate sentences while retaining your complex structures.
