Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important changes, including the central fountain being replaced by a rose garden, the musicians’ stage becoming an amphitheatre, and the pond being replaced by a children’s play area. However, the account is only partial and some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the original park had entrances on both Arnold Avenue and Eldon Street, not only Eldon Street, and the modern plan shows those two entrances plus an underground car-park entrance. You also say there is one other rose garden beside Arnold Avenue, but the north-west garden remains and a café replaces the northern rose garden east of the entrance. Add a clear overview of the main transformation and report the key relocations more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic chronological structure: it describes the 1920 plan first and the present-day plan second. This makes the comparison generally understandable, and phrases such as “In the first picture” and “In second image” help signal the shift. However, progression within each paragraph is uneven: features are listed without a consistent route or grouping, and some links are unclear, as in “The old avenue was spacious where seats were provided along with walls not in center.” The repeated openings also make the organisation feel mechanical. Group features by area or by what changed and what remained, and use clearer links such as “By contrast,” “Meanwhile,” and “In the south-east corner” to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “fountain,” “rose gardens,” “pond,” “entrance,” and “Amphitheatre,” so the reader can recognise many of the features. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “natural atmosphere” and “structure.” However, word choice and spelling are often inaccurate or unsuitable for a factual map summary: “potrayed,” “levishing,” “alternative for,” and “stage of musician” reduce precision, while “old avenue” appears to confuse the road with the park. Some wording is vague, including “new structure … is demonstrated.” Use accurate location and change vocabulary, such as “is situated,” “was replaced by,” and “in the north-east corner,” and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can usually follow the broad comparison. However, the range is limited and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include missing or incorrect articles and sentence structure in “in second picture the modern image of park is shown,” and the faulty construction “The old avenue was spacious where seats were provided.” Verb forms and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “the structure and architect of park was,” while punctuation and capitalisation are unreliable, including sentence openings such as “as in 1st figure” and repeated full stops. Practise accurate present and past descriptions, complete sentences, and basic article use; then combine ideas with controlled clauses such as “whereas” or “which.”
