Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main transformation clearly: the central fountain is replaced by a rose garden, and the park gains facilities such as a café, play area and concert amphitheatre. You also compare several locations with their earlier uses, including the north-east pond and south-east glasshouse area. This gives the response a relevant overview and covers the main changes. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the park had three rose gardens in 1920, and two remain today, rather than “only a rose garden”; the amphitheatre replaces both the western stage and south-west garden, not simply the stage. The claim that the water feature moved from the opposite side is also unsupported. More precise coverage of these changes would make the account more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the earlier and current layouts. This helps the reader follow the broad comparison. However, progression within the body paragraphs is weakened by long strings of details joined with “and,” and punctuation is often missing, as in the paragraph beginning “In year 1920 grange park had minimal facilities.” Some links are also vague: “this gardens” and “where it use to be” do not identify locations clearly. Organise each period’s features in a consistent spatial order, such as north, centre, then south, and use clear sentence boundaries and references. This would make the overall arrangement more coherent and cohesion less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “fountain,” “rose gardens,” “pond for water plants,” “children’s play area” and “amphitheatre for concerts.” These terms allow the reader to understand many of the changes. However, the range is limited and some choices are imprecise or repetitive: “facilities” and “features” recur, while “singing stage” does not accurately describe a stage for musicians. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “chaged,” “noticiable” and “centeral,” which reduce the accuracy of the description. Aim for precise map language and vary verbs for change and replacement. Proofreading spelling and choosing standard collocations would improve clarity and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, including “Overall, the design of park have changed a lot…” and “In centeral area fountain has been replaced…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles and verb forms occur throughout. Examples include “the design … have,” “fountain have been replaced,” “a children’s play area has also introduced,” and “an amphitheatre.” Several sentences run together without full stops, making grammatical relationships harder to follow. Use a reliable pattern for describing the maps—for example, “The fountain was replaced by…”—and check subject–verb agreement, articles and past/present tense. Clearer sentence boundaries would also help demonstrate a wider range accurately.
