Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the replacement of the fountain by a central rose garden, the pond by a children’s play area, and the musicians’ stage by an amphitheatre. You also note that the two entrances remain. However, the overview is unclear and includes an unsupported claim that the park’s buildings were “not well furnished” in 1920. Some details are inaccurate or imprecise: the central rose garden is surrounded by seats, rather than “4 seats,” and the café and water feature are not clearly compared with the former northern rose garden and glasshouse. The final sentence is also contradictory, saying the park is more developed than “the recent one.” A clearer overview of the main transformations, followed by accurate location-based comparisons, would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic overall structure: it begins with a general comparison, then describes several changes, and ends with a summary. This gives the reader some sense of the topic. However, progression is weak because the first paragraph lists new features without organising them by location or grouping them with the features they replaced. The second paragraph repeats some of the same changes, such as the stage becoming an amphitheatre and the pond becoming a play area. Linking phrases such as “also” and “In summary” are used, but they do not always clarify relationships, and the final summary is difficult to interpret. Organise the report into a concise overview and paragraphs comparing the northern, central, and other areas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a park, including “fountain,” “glass house,” “ponds for water plants,” “children’s play area,” and “Amphitheatre for concerts.” This shows a basic range suited to the task. However, several word choices or forms are inaccurate and sometimes make the meaning unclear: “recent building” and “recent public park” are not natural ways to describe the present-day plan, while “accent public park” appears to be an incorrect word. “Theatre” is also less precise than “amphitheatre” for the feature shown. Spelling and apostrophe errors, including “musicaian,” “childrens,” and “werent,” are noticeable. Use precise map vocabulary and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “the stage for musicaian in 1920 was replaced with the theatre after the development took place.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, tense, agreement, and punctuation frequently distract the reader. The opening phrase “The plan compares how the public parks where” is not grammatically complete, and “overall, the 1920 there where two entrance” has faulty word order, verb agreement, and plural form. The final sentence also compares the park with itself, making the intended meaning unclear. Commas are often misplaced or missing, and capitalisation is inconsistent. Practise accurate past-versus-present comparisons and build clear sentences around a subject and verb before adding detail.
