Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the central fountain becoming a rose garden, the glasshouse being replaced by a water feature, and the pond area becoming a children’s play area. However, some details are inaccurate: the south-west rose garden, not a south-east one, was removed, and the stage was in the west rather than the east. The pond was not built in front of the glasshouse; it occupied the north-east corner. The overview also says seats were removed from around the park, but seats remain in several areas and now surround the central garden. These misreadings and the omission of features such as the café and underground car-park entrance make the summary only partly complete. Check locations carefully and give a more accurate overview of the main changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction and overview are followed by descriptions of changes. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “In 1920” and “but now” help signal comparisons. However, progression is not consistently clear because the descriptions jump between locations and some references are difficult to follow. For example, “In the past, after entrance on the buttom right side” does not clearly identify which entrance or area is meant, while “In the front side of Glasshouse” makes the relationship between features confusing. The final paragraph repeats a comparison without connecting it clearly to the earlier account. Group changes by area or by feature, and use precise references such as “in the north-east corner” to improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing maps, including “replaced,” “shifted,” “entrance,” “Glasshouse,” and “Amphitheatre.” These choices show an attempt to describe changes rather than simply list labels. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the intended meaning unclear. “Seats are removed from all over the ground” is not a natural or accurate description, and “has taken there place” is an awkward way to describe replacement. There are also spelling errors such as “illustarte,” “buttom,” and “contructed.” Build a bank of precise map language, including “was converted into,” “was relocated to,” and “remained unchanged,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons with “whereas” and clauses beginning “In 1920.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentence structures are difficult to interpret. For example, “Rose garden was placed in buttom east side …, is shifted to the center” combines tenses and clauses without a clear grammatical connection. “Seats … but there are removed now” has an incorrect verb form, while “Children’s play area has contructed there” is missing the passive auxiliary and uses an incorrect tense. Articles, prepositions, and punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise forming accurate past-passive descriptions, such as “The fountain was replaced by a rose garden,” and use complete, clearly punctuated sentences before attempting longer comparisons.
