Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies the topic and attempts an overview, noting that the park has changed, and it mentions some original features such as seats, a central feature and a musicians’ stage. However, the overview is vague and the description is incomplete: it does not explain the main changes shown today, such as the café, play area, amphitheatre, central rose garden or underground car-park entrance. The claim that there are “lot of new areas” is not supported with specific comparisons, and “foundation” misidentifies the fountain. The response is also unfinished and contains only 86 words, below the required 150; 13 words copied from the prompt were excluded from that count. To improve, complete the comparison and select the most important changes from both plans.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence is followed by an overview and then a paragraph about the 1920 plan. The time reference “In 1920” also helps signal the shift to details. However, the response stops mid-sentence at “there is a”, so the information has no complete progression and the present-day plan is not described. Connections between ideas are limited, and phrases such as “as compare to the pervious one” do not clearly express the comparison. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the overview and the two plans, and link corresponding locations with clear expressions such as “whereas” and “in contrast”.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “public park”, “seats”, “stage” and “musicians”, so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is narrow and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, including “foundation” for the central fountain and “areas are open” for facilities or areas in the park. Spelling errors such as “diffrence”, “significat” and “perivious” are frequent enough to weaken clarity and control. Aim for precise map vocabulary and check spelling carefully. Useful terms for this task include “feature”, “facility”, “located”, “replaced” and “remained”, which would help describe changes without relying on vague wording such as “new areas”.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both a simple opening and longer sentences, including “Overall, it is very clear that…”, but grammatical control is inconsistent. Examples include “This diagrams illustrates”, where the demonstrative and verb do not agree, “there are significat changes”, and “the Grange park were have many facilities”. The phrase “There are lot of new areas are open” also combines sentence patterns incorrectly, while the final sentence is incomplete. These errors make several statements difficult to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and past-tense forms, and build complete sentences before adding comparisons. For example: “In 1920, the park had several facilities, including seats and a stage for musicians.”
