Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main transformation and several important replacements: the central fountain becomes a rose garden with seats, the pond becomes a children’s play area, and the glasshouse is replaced by a water feature. Your overview also notes that several original features disappear and new facilities are introduced. This gives the reader a relevant account of the plans. However, some details are incomplete or imprecise: the western amphitheatre replaces both the musicians’ stage and the south-west rose garden, and the north-west rose garden remains rather than disappearing. The café’s location is described only as near the play area, and the underground car-park entrance is omitted. The response covers the task well overall, but fuller and more precise comparisons would strengthen it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs describing changes. Grouping the central and northern features before discussing the remaining changes is a useful approach. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and the links between ideas are not always clear. For example, “There was a pond … in 1920. Which has replaced with children area now” breaks one comparison into an incomplete sentence, while “For the remaining changes” does not clearly signal which features are being grouped. The repeated use of “Moreover” and “However” also feels mechanical, and “However” does not express a clear contrast in its sentence. Use complete comparison sentences and organise details by location or by old-to-new replacements.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a park plan, including “fountain,” “rose garden,” “pond,” “glasshouse,” “amphitheatre” and “water feature.” Phrases such as “changed significantly” and “replaced by” also help convey the main transformations. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the description less fluent: “parkm,” “constractions,” “gardden,” “musians” and “repleced” appear in the response. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “new constructions … took place on the park” and “children area.” Aim for accurate, conventional map vocabulary and collocations, such as saying that facilities “were added” or “were built,” and refer to a “children’s play area.” Proofreading spelling would make your meaning clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and more complex comparisons, including “while … vanished” and “which replaced …,” but control is inconsistent. Several sentences have faulty verb forms or missing grammatical elements: “there was a fountain which replaced by rose garden” needs a passive construction, and “a rose garden … is vanished now” uses an incorrect verb form. The fragment “Which has replaced with children area now” should be joined to the preceding sentence and recast with a complete subject and verb. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “a amphitheatre” and “1920.Which.” These errors sometimes make relationships between past and present features harder to follow. Practise accurate passive forms and complete comparison sentences while retaining your attempts at varied structures.
