Student answer (Band 5.5)
The plan below compares the structure of a public park when it was opened in 1920 and at present.
Overall, the park undergoned various kinds of changes, where the most significant changes are the involvement of childrean's play area, the amphitheatre for concerts and a cafe as well. Moreover, the other sections of that park experienced notable modification of their locations.
In the first photo of the park's plan, in the middle of the park there was a large fountain and beside that there was a stage for the musicians. Furthermore, there were three rose gardens in different locations and also sits for the visitors in every boundary of the park. In the right corner the park had a pond for watered the plants.
At present, we can see signifiacant modification, by removing the founain they set rose gaden in that place and seats around the garden, also a enormous amphitheatre for concerts had builded. In addition, a new paly area for the children in the right corner of the plan had created. The entrance remained in the same place. The pond had removed from the previous place and a water feature made in the right bottom .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the two time periods and report several important changes, including the central fountain being replaced by a rose garden, the addition of an amphitheatre and children’s play area, and the pond’s replacement by a water feature. However, coverage is partial: the café, glasshouse, underground car-park entrance, and the north-west rose garden’s continued presence are omitted. Some descriptions are also unclear or imprecise. For example, “the entrance remained in the same place” does not specify that the north and south entrances remain, while “in the right corner” does not clearly identify the play area’s north-east location. A clearer overview of what stayed the same as well as the main changes, followed by more precise location comparisons, would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the earlier and current plans. This gives the reader a basic chronological progression, and phrases such as “In the first photo” and “At present” help signal the shift between maps. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear, particularly the long sequence in the overview beginning “Overall … where,” and the final paragraph’s repeated use of “In addition” and “also.” References such as “that place,” “the right corner,” and “the previous place” do not always make the exact location clear. Grouping features by area or by what changed and remained, and using more precise referencing, would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “fountain,” “rose gardens,” “amphitheatre,” and “water feature.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “childrean’s,” “signifiacant,” “founain,” “gaden,” and “paly” make key details harder to read. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “involvement of” new facilities, “sits for the visitors,” and “pond for watered the plants.” Choose standard map-description terms and check spelling carefully; for example, “addition of,” “seating,” and “pond for water plants” are clearer. More accurate vocabulary for locations and changes would help you describe the plans with greater control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including “Moreover, the other sections …” and the contrast between the former and current plans. However, errors in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some statements difficult to follow. Examples include “the park undergoned,” “a enormous amphitheatre … had builded,” and “a new … area … had created”; these require accurate past or present passive forms. The sentence “by removing the founain they set rose gaden in that place” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between the opening phrase and the main clause. Practise forming concise passive descriptions, such as “The fountain was replaced by a rose garden,” and check agreement and article use when describing individual features.
