Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the park’s overall transformation and mention some relevant features, including the entrances, rose gardens, music stage, café and children’s play area. However, the comparison is only partial and several key changes are missing or unclear. For example, the central fountain was replaced by a rose garden surrounded by seats, the north-east pond became a play area, and the glasshouse was replaced by a water feature; these are not reported. The statement that the stage was “found in these flower gardens” is also inaccurate: it was west of the fountain. The overview gives a broad contrast, but the description needs more specific, accurate comparisons to fully explain how the park changed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview and separate paragraphs for the two time periods. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is limited: the 1920 paragraph lists a few features, while the final paragraph repeats the idea of modern development without explaining the main changes. Linking is also sparse, and phrases such as “then the new park” do not make the comparison clear. Grouping changes by location or by what was replaced—for example, describing the northern area and then the centre and southern area—would create a clearer sequence. Use comparison links such as “whereas,” “in contrast” and “while” to connect the two plans more precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “entrances,” “rose gardens,” “facilities” and “play area,” and you attempt to describe change with phrases such as “has undergone significant changes.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, including “Grance,” “facielities,” “vistors” and “musicisian.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “sitting area” is less suitable than “seating,” and “stage of the musician” does not clearly describe the feature. Build a bank of accurate map vocabulary, such as “located,” “replaced by,” “in the north-east corner” and “surrounded by,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including an overview beginning “While the park focused on its garden…”. However, control is inconsistent, and frequent errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “The map illustrate,” “since it was first open,” and “In 1920, park has two entrances,” which show problems with subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles and tense. The sentence beginning “Today, the park has developed…” also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Use the past simple for the 1920 plan and the present simple for the current plan, and check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb. Short, accurate comparisons would be a useful foundation before adding more complex clauses.
