Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main transformation in the centre, noting that the fountain became a rose garden with seats, and you compare the former musicians’ stage with today’s amphitheatre. You also mention several northern and southern features. However, the overview is broad rather than a clear summary of the park’s main changes, and some details are inaccurate or unclear: the south-west rose garden did not become an empty space; it is now part of the area occupied by the amphitheatre. The café replaced the northern rose garden, while the north-east pond became a children’s play area. The underground car-park entrance and the unchanged north-west rose garden are omitted. More precise comparisons and a clearer overview would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing locations. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is uneven, and several details are grouped in long, loosely connected sentences, particularly in the overview and the paragraph beginning “To begin with”. Linking phrases such as “Morever” and repeated uses of “and now” do not always show the relationship between changes clearly. Some references are also difficult to follow, for example “to the left side of the centre of entrance”. Organise the body by areas or by replaced features, and use clear location references and contrast markers such as “whereas” and “in contrast” to improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “fountain”, “rose garden”, “pond for water plants” and “Amphitheatre for concerts”, so the reader can identify many of the features. There are also attempts at change-related language, such as “transformed into”. However, the range is limited and some word choices or forms are inaccurate, including “stage of musicians”, “garden rose”, “greenhouse” for the labelled glasshouse, and “recent era”. Spelling errors such as “enterance”, “Morever” and “childern’s” are noticeable. These slips sometimes make descriptions less precise. Build a more accurate set of phrases for describing map changes and locations, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the basic meaning is usually recoverable. However, control of sentence structure and verb forms is inconsistent. For example, “The maps compares” has subject–verb disagreement, while “which is transform” and “it will not changed” use incorrect verb forms. The sentence beginning “Overall” also joins several complete ideas with “And”, creating a fragment-like continuation, and punctuation is often missing after full stops. Articles and prepositions are also unreliable in phrases such as “to a Amphitheatre” and “in the centre of the entrance”. Practise accurate past-to-present comparisons, especially “was replaced by” and “has become”, and separate long sentences into clear clauses.
