Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main change in the park’s centre: the fountain has been replaced by a rose garden with seats around it. You also report several important changes, including the café, children’s play area, water feature and concert amphitheatre, so the response addresses the task. However, the overview, “the park renovate with today needs,” is unclear and does not summarise the overall pattern of change. Some details are inaccurate or imprecise: the entrances are described as being on the north and south sides of Eldon Street, whereas they are on Arnold Avenue and Eldon Street, and the fountain was not in front of an entrance. The comparison of the western area and the former glasshouse site could also be clearer. A precise overview and more accurate locations would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable progression from the 1920 layout to the park today, and paragraphing helps distinguish the two time periods. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “with replacement of pond” also signal that you are moving to new information. However, the first paragraph’s overview is too unclear to guide the reader, and several details are crowded into long sequences joined mainly by “and.” For example, the description of the earlier park moves from the glasshouse to the fountain, pond, gardens and stage without a clear spatial order. The final sentence lists two changes without explaining where they are. Organise each period by area, and use clearer references such as “in the north-east corner” to make the relationships easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing park features, including “fountain,” “pond for water plants,” “glasshouse,” “children’s play area” and “amphitheatre for concerts.” This gives you enough topic language to communicate the main changes. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “changing made,” “renovate with today needs,” and “seats for setting purpose.” “Multiple changes happened” is understandable but less suitable for a formal report than a precise description of what was added or replaced. There are also spelling and form issues, including “now a days” and “occured.” Build a bank of accurate map-description phrases and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including “with replacement of pond they made a children’s play area,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, grammatical control is uneven, particularly with articles, agreement, tense and sentence boundaries. Examples include “This plans provides,” “a cafe have been added,” and “two significant changes have occured.” The opening also lacks a space after the full stop, and several sentences run together through repeated use of “and.” Practise forming accurate past and present passive sentences for changes, such as “The pond was replaced by a play area,” and check singular/plural agreement and articles. More reliable sentence construction would make your comparisons clearer.
