Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important changes, including the pond becoming a children’s play area, the glasshouse being replaced by a water feature, and the musicians’ stage becoming an amphitheatre. However, the response does not give a clear overview of the park’s main transformation, and some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the central rose garden is surrounded by seats, not “4 seats”; the map shows seats on all four sides. The rose gardens’ locations are also confused: the garden beside the pond was in the north-east area, while the garden at the back entrance is not shown. The new café and underground car-park entrance are relevant, but the latter is described imprecisely as parking itself being added. A clearer overview and accurate location comparisons would strengthen coverage.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic sequence, moving from entrances and seating to garden and facility changes, and “Moreover” signals an additional point. However, the information is packed into two long paragraphs, with the first containing several changes joined by full stops or commas without clear separation. This makes the progression difficult to follow, particularly in “There were 3 rose garden…” where several locations are listed in one sentence. Some references, such as “the front,” “the backside,” and “the back entry,” are not precise enough to help the reader track positions on the maps. Organise the report into a brief overview followed by clearly grouped comparisons, and use explicit north/south/east/west references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “replaced,” “rose garden,” “pond,” and “amphitheatre,” so the main changes are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “got supersede” does not express the change correctly, “exact location” is repeated, and “front” and “backside” are vague for describing a plan. “Underground parking” also refers to the facility rather than the labelled entrance. Aim for precise location language and natural change verbs, such as “was converted into” or “was replaced by.” Check spelling and word forms as well, including “children’s,” “glasshouse,” and “musicians’ stage,” to make the description more polished.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but the range of structures is limited and errors recur, sometimes making relationships between features hard to follow. For example, “The maps below describes” has subject–verb disagreement, while “There were 3 rose garden” has a plural error. The sentence beginning “Firstly, The park has 2 entrances first one…” needs clearer clause boundaries and articles, and “Stage for musician changed to a amphitheatre” contains article and sentence-structure problems. Capitalisation after commas and full stops is also inconsistent. Practise accurate simple comparison patterns first, then combine them with controlled clauses, for example: “The pond was replaced by a play area, while the glasshouse became a water feature.”
