Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important changes, including the central fountain being replaced by a rose garden, the new café and play area, and the amphitheatre in the western part of the park. However, the response only partially summarises the plans: it lacks a clear overview of the main pattern of change, and some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the 1920 rose gardens were not both “up and down of the stage”; one was in the north-west and another along the northern edge, while the south-west garden was near the stage. The glasshouse was in the south-east, not the “bellow left corner.” You also omit the retained north-west rose garden and the underground car-park entrance. Grouping the major changes accurately would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall sequence: it describes the 1920 plan first and then the park today, which helps the reader follow the comparison. Paragraphing also separates the two time periods. Some linking is attempted through phrases such as “In addition” and “In today,” but connections between individual features are sometimes mechanical or unclear. The opening repeats the task rather than giving a concise overview, and the final phrase, “some things like entrance remained positioned,” does not specify clearly what remained or where. Improve progression by adding a brief overview after the introduction, then grouping related changes by area or by what was replaced. Clearer references and more precise transitions would make the organisation more effective.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “located,” “center,” “rose garden,” “children play area,” and “amphitheatre for concerts,” so the reader can identify many of the features. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “bellow,” “pound,” “srounded,” and “contructed.” Some phrases are also unnatural for describing plans: “an cafe been held” and “some changes happen” do not express the intended changes clearly. Aim for accurate, conventional map language and check spelling carefully. More precise verbs such as “replaced,” “relocated,” and “remained” would help you describe the transformations without relying on repeated basic phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control of sentence structure and basic grammar is weak, and errors often make the relationships between features unclear. Examples include “the two map show,” “the changes that was,” and “an stage,” which show problems with agreement and articles. Verb forms are also frequently incomplete or inconsistent: “an cafe been held” and “a children play area been constructed” need a subject and an appropriately formed verb, such as “A café was added” and “A children’s play area was constructed.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, especially after full stops. Practise accurate simple past descriptions first, then combine them using controlled clauses such as “whereas” or “while.”
