Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several important changes, including the central rose garden and seating, the replacement of the musicians’ stage by an amphitheatre, and the new café and children’s play area. These details are generally relevant and show an understanding of how the park has changed. However, the overview is unclear: the opening refers to Arnold Avenue rather than introducing the park, and the claim that seating moved from the corners to the middle is inaccurate. The central fountain was replaced by a rose garden surrounded by seats; seating was not simply relocated from the corners. The pond became a play area, while the water feature replaced the glasshouse, not the pond. Develop a clear overview and check each comparison against the plan; also include the retained north-west rose garden and the underground car-park entrance accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response groups several changes into a sequence, using phrases such as “The other major change” and “In 1920” to signal new points. This gives the reader some sense of progression, and the main features are mostly discussed in separate sentences. However, there is no clear paragraph structure or concise overview, and the opening does not establish the comparison clearly. Connections between ideas are sometimes mechanical, while the long sentence beginning “In 1920 there was a simple water pond” combines several changes without a clear relationship. Organise the response into an introduction and overview, followed by paragraphs comparing the western/central and northern/southern areas. Use precise references such as “by contrast” or “in the south-east” to make relationships clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a park plan, including “rose gardens,” “amphitheatre,” “children play area,” and “underground car parking.” These terms help communicate the main changes, and there is some attempt to vary descriptions with phrases such as “major change” and “replaced.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or informal choices are noticeable, including “oppened,” “flowinbg,” “seprate,” “hungary,” and “proper.” Some wording is also unsuitable for a factual map summary: “which is essential” and “children can have fun” add opinion rather than describing the plan. Choose accurate labels from the map and use neutral terms such as “was added,” “was converted into,” and “designated for children’s play.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes mostly simple sentences and attempts some longer structures, for example, “there is also seprate space reserved for children play area where childrens can have fun.” This shows an effort to connect related information, but control is uneven. Tense shifts between “had,” “has been,” “was,” and “get” make the timeline inconsistent, and several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, as in the sentence about the pond and water feature. Articles and sentence construction also need attention, particularly in “there was no cafe which is essential” and “Glass house was also replaced.” Use past simple consistently for changes between 1920 and today, and check sentence boundaries, articles, and plural forms. More accurate complex sentences would make the comparisons easier to follow.
