Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several important changes, including the central fountain becoming a rose garden with surrounding seats, the pond being replaced by a children’s play area, and the glasshouse becoming a water feature. You also note the amphitheatre replacing the musicians’ stage. These relevant comparisons show that you understand the main transformation. However, the overview is unclear and does not summarise the park’s overall pattern of change, while some details are inaccurate or difficult to interpret: the café replaces a rose garden, not simply “they converted into cafe,” and the north-west rose garden remains rather than being removed. The discussion of seats is also confusing and omits other key changes, such as the underground car-park entrance. Select the main changes more precisely and explain them clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, moving from an overview to descriptions of the northern, central, and western or southern areas. This gives the reader some sense of how the park is being described. However, progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph begins “In 1920, starting from top” but shifts repeatedly between past and present, and the final paragraph combines the amphitheatre with several unclear comments about seats. Linking words such as “Moreover” and “but” are used, but they do not always clarify the relationship between ideas. Use a more systematic route through the map, grouping changes by location, and make each comparison explicit so that references such as “there” and “from there” have clear meanings.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “fountain,” “rose garden,” “pond,” “children’s play area,” “glasshouse,” and “water feature.” These terms help identify the features being compared. However, the range of language for describing change and location is limited, and several word choices or forms make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “bug change” is unsuitable, “seats adjust” does not clearly describe what happened, and “turned out into” is an inaccurate collocation. There are also spelling errors in “Chilren’s” and “thery.” Build a more precise set of verbs and phrases for map changes, such as “was replaced by,” “remained unchanged,” and “was relocated,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, and the reader can understand several comparisons despite some grammatical errors. However, control of verb forms, sentence construction, articles, and agreement is inconsistent. For instance, “Park will changed many locations” uses an incorrect tense and verb form, while “there was a Glasshouse was turned out into Water feature” combines clauses without a workable structure. “Amphitheatre for concerts are built” also has a subject–verb agreement problem. Use past simple for the 1920 plan and present simple for the current plan, and form comparisons with a clear subject and verb—for example, “The glasshouse was replaced by a water feature.” More accurate sentence patterns would make your comparisons easier to follow.
