Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important changes, including the central fountain being replaced by a rose garden with surrounding seats, the western amphitheatre, and the new café, play area and water feature. However, some locations are misreported: the 1920 stage was west of the fountain, not to its right, and the southern rose garden was southwest rather than directly below the fountain. The final claim that the park has “alot of space” and that facilities have been grouped together is unclear and not supported by the plan. A concise overview of the main transformations, followed by accurate comparisons of the north, centre and south, would make the summary more complete and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response follows a broadly understandable route through the park, first describing the 1920 plan and then the present layout. This gives the reader a basic sense of the two time periods. However, the description is organised mainly as a sequence of directions, and several links are unclear, such as “Below it from eldon's street” and “On the right of it,” where the reference point is difficult to identify. The final paragraph also introduces a general comment without clearly connecting it to the preceding comparisons. Use separate, clearly focused paragraphs for the overview and the two plans, and use precise location references such as “in the north-east corner” to improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a park, including “fountain,” “pond for water plants,” “glasshouse,” “amphitheatre” and “water feature.” These terms help communicate the main facilities. However, the range of location language is limited and repetitive, especially “on the right,” “next to it” and “below it,” which can also make positions ambiguous. Some word choices and forms are inaccurate or awkward, including “garden rose,” “an etrance” and “the park alot of space.” Aim for more precise map vocabulary and accurate collocations, for example “rose garden,” “occupies the south-east corner” and “the layout has been substantially redesigned.” Check spelling and apostrophes before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between features difficult to follow. For example, “The two illustrations below shows” has subject–verb disagreement, while “At the centre of the park, is a fountain” uses an unnecessary comma and an awkward sentence structure. There are also problems with articles, plurals and possessives, as in “another rose gardens” and “eldon's street.” Several sentences join multiple locations without clear grammatical links, particularly the description beginning “To the right of it is the stage.” Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add complex clauses with clear subjects and reference points.
