Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify several important changes accurately: the central fountain is replaced by a rose garden, the western stage area becomes an amphitheatre, the pond site becomes a children’s play area, and the glasshouse site gains a water feature. You also note that the north-west rose garden and the two street entrances remain. This covers the main transformation and includes relevant comparisons. However, some details are unclear or imprecise: the south-west rose garden did not move to the centre; the central rose garden replaced the fountain, while the south-west area became the amphitheatre. The café’s location and the underground car-park entrance could also be described more clearly. The overview recognises broad change, but could better summarise the park’s overall reorganisation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from a brief introduction to a series of comparisons and then an overall statement. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, the progression within the main paragraph is not consistently clear: features are listed in quick succession, and the relationship between them is sometimes difficult to follow. For example, “One of the rose garden of south-west sifted to the centre” combines two separate changes and creates confusion. Linking expressions such as “in contrast,” “while,” and “in addition” could help distinguish replacements from features that remain. The final overview also repeats some details rather than drawing the main changes together. Clearer grouping by area or by unchanged and changed features would improve organisation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “fountain,” “rose garden,” “stage for musicians,” “Amphitheatre,” and “underground parking,” so the reader can identify many of the features being compared. There are also attempts to describe change with words such as “replaced” and “intact.” However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less precise. For instance, “sifted” does not clearly express that a feature was replaced, and “public” is incomplete in “a public.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “paly” and “todays” also reduce control. Aim for precise map language, for example “was converted into,” “remained unchanged,” and “was located in the north-east corner,” while checking spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, and the main message is generally recoverable. However, grammatical control is uneven, with errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “The two pictures illustrates,” “the fountain remove,” and “The stage for musicians are also not there”; these should use appropriate subject–verb agreement and past or present passive forms. Some sentences are also incomplete or awkwardly joined, as in “As seen in both the maps that the fountain remove from the park.” Try forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use passive structures consistently to describe changes: “The fountain was removed and replaced by a rose garden.” More accurate control of these patterns would make the comparisons easier to understand.
