Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important changes, including the central rose garden, the concert venue, the children’s play area, café, water feature and underground parking. However, the account is only partly accurate and does not give a clear, reliable overview of the park’s main transformation. For example, the stage and fountain were not both at the centre: the stage was west of the central fountain. The present-day amphitheatre is in the western area, not simply “at the left side of rose garden,” and the response says there are only two rose gardens without clearly explaining that the north-west garden remains while the central one is new. To strengthen the report, compare the locations systematically and distinguish retained features from replacements and additions; avoid unsupported claims such as functions being held there every year.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some paragraphing and a basic time-based structure: it first refers to the earlier plan and then moves to “Nowadays.” This gives the reader a general sense of the comparison. However, progression is not consistently clear, and ideas are sometimes repeated or placed together without a logical relationship. The opening says the stage and fountain were at the centre, then the next paragraph repeats these features and gives conflicting locations. Linking words such as “But,” “moreover,” and “also” are used, but they do not always clarify how features relate. Organise the report into a concise overview followed by one paragraph on 1920 and one on the present, grouping features by area or by whether they were retained, replaced, or added.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a park, including “rose gardens,” “pond,” “glasshouse,” “water feature,” and “underground.” This shows an attempt to use task-specific language. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the description difficult to interpret. “Five sitting benches” does not match the plan’s labelled seating areas, while “a theatre” is less precise than the map’s “amphitheatre.” There are also spelling and word-form problems, such as “garnage,” “spce,” and “builts.” Choose precise map vocabulary and use standard forms; avoid adding details such as “for beautification” when a direct location description would be clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Problems include missing or incorrect verb forms and agreement: “the park develops a lot of changes,” “a cafe … construct there,” and “a car parking area builts.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “Stage of musicians and fountain were at center,” and the fragment beginning “But today center cover with rose garden.” Punctuation and spacing errors, including “In1920” and the full stop before “and,” further interrupt the reading. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and correctly inflected verb, and use past tense for 1920 and present tense for the current plan.
