Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the park and mention several relevant changes, including the new amphitheatre, play area and café. However, the summary is only partial: the overview focuses on the fountain becoming a water feature, but the central fountain was replaced by a rose garden surrounded by seats; the water feature is in the south-east corner. Some locations are also unclear or inaccurate: the 1920 plan has three rose gardens, not simply two, and the stage was west of the fountain rather than reached by going straight and then left. To strengthen the response, give a clearer overview of the main transformations and compare the same areas across both plans, including the central and western sections and the former glasshouse site.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to descriptions of the two plans. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within the paragraphs is weak: repeated openings such as “In the first picture we see” and “In the second picture we see” make the account list-like, while “and” is used repeatedly to join separate points. Some references, including “front side,” “back side,” and “left side and right side,” are difficult to interpret without a clear orientation. Group features by location or by what changed, and use precise links such as “by contrast,” “in the north-east,” and “whereas” to make comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “entrance,” “rose garden,” “pond,” “stage,” and “amphitheatre for concerts,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors make key details harder to understand, such as “foutain,” “seconf,” “replaved,” and “ponf.” Some expressions are also imprecise for describing a plan: “front side” and “back side” do not identify the north and south entrances, and “stage for museum” does not convey the label accurately. Build a small set of location and change phrases, and check spelling carefully; terms such as “north-east corner,” “was replaced by,” and “remains unchanged” would allow more precise reporting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences joined with “and,” but the longer structures are often faulty, and errors occur throughout. For example, “The two pictures gives” has subject–verb disagreement, while “there are many things are changed” combines incompatible structures. Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic in “there is a amphitheatre” and “Grange park. The two pictures.” These errors sometimes make relationships between features unclear. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, such as “The plans show…” and “A café has been added…,” then use controlled comparisons with “while” or “whereas.” Check agreement, articles, punctuation, and past-versus-present forms when describing the two plans.
