Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some university students argue that they should learn some other additional subjects to their main subjects, while others believe that should give all their time and focus to their study for a qualification. I believe that learning some additional subject can be beneficial for their career prospects.
On the one hand, some students want to learn other additional subjects at university and it helps them to improve their skills. Because they can get more knowledge and can apply their real life. For example, when students learn additional subject such as video edditing, team management ro English speaking that offers more opportunities to become more skilled and become more confident for their career. In addition, it provides more career options and helps to do better in their professional life.
On the other hand, some people argue that studnet should focus and give all their time to study for qualification and it also improtand to get academic qualification. Moreover, students can sometimes be stressed to get addtional subjects to their main subject. Because it can be a extra pressure and it can effect their accademic result. Forthermore, they can become more expert and can get more knowledge in a particular subject when they only focus on their academic study. For instance, if students give more time on their academic subject it helps to improve their knowledge in a particular area and can job easily that particular field.
In conclusion, although giving time and attention to study for a qualification can be benefitial, learning additional subject can be more benefitial for skills and career prospects. Therefore, students should have flexibility to choose their subject if they want to learn addition subjects and can improve their skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the discussion and gives a clear opinion: additional subjects are presented as beneficial, while focused study is linked to expertise and academic results. The examples of video editing, team management and English speaking help illustrate possible benefits, and the conclusion restates the preference for flexibility. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that extra subjects provide “more career options” could be developed by showing how a particular skill complements a qualification. The opposing view is also relevant, but the explanation of pressure and poorer results remains general. Develop each main idea with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation or a specific example to make the discussion more balanced and convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the reader can identify your position. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, links within paragraphs are sometimes mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Because,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore.” The sentence beginning “Because they can get more knowledge” is also left as a fragment, interrupting the flow. Some references, such as “that offers more opportunities,” are not fully clear. Connect ideas more naturally and ensure each sentence has a clear link to the one before it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “career prospects,” “academic qualification,” “professional life,” and “particular subject.” These choices show awareness of the topic, but the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, such as “additional subject,” “more knowledge,” and “career.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “edditing,” “improtant,” “addtional,” and “benefitial,” which reduce the accuracy and polish of the writing. Some combinations are unnatural, for example “apply their real life” and “can job easily that particular field.” Build a wider set of accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your meaning clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes both simple sentences and attempts at longer structures, such as “although giving time and attention to study for a qualification can be beneficial…” This gives some variety, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, some sentence structures are incomplete or faulty. “Because they can get more knowledge” is a dependent clause used as a sentence, while “while others believe that should give all their time” is missing a clear subject after “that.” There are also errors in articles, agreement and sentence construction, as in “it can be a extra pressure” and “students should have flexibility.” Aim to make each clause complete, check that subjects and verbs agree, and practise combining ideas with accurate subordinate clauses.
