Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a preference for learning beyond a student’s main subject, particularly through the examples about moving from software development to cybersecurity. This is relevant to the question, but the position is not consistently clear: the opening supports additional study, while the conclusion says all papers are significant without directly weighing the two approaches. The opposing view—that students should focus their time on their qualification—is introduced, but its reasons are not explained in enough detail; the paragraph shifts instead to attendance, earning money and later difficulty upgrading skills. Develop each side with a clear reason and a specific example, then state explicitly which view you support and why.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. In the first body paragraph, the discussion moves from job opportunities to changing domains and then to a long example involving several companies and career changes. The second body paragraph also shifts from passing papers to attendance and future skill development without clearly connecting these points. Linking phrases such as “Additionally” and “On the other hand” help signal relationships, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and use shorter, clearly linked examples and references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to education and employment, including “qualification,” “general knowledge,” “fundamentals,” and “cybersecurity.” These choices show an effort to discuss the topic beyond very basic terms. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation are frequent enough to make some ideas difficult to interpret. For example, “provide all their time and participant” does not express the intended idea, and “work a cybersecurity group” is unclear. There are also spelling errors such as “semister,” “facinate,” and “Wheareas,” alongside awkward phrases such as “cracking interviews.” Build a reliable set of natural academic collocations and check spelling and word forms; precise, familiar vocabulary is more effective than ambitious but inaccurate phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If he learns cybersecurity fundamentals … that may assist” and clauses beginning with “Whereas.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and verb forms sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “Students want to enhance knowledge in their field due to many job opportunities are available” joins ideas incorrectly, while “These company may offer a fresher” has agreement and article problems. “If, that candidate knows…” also uses punctuation incorrectly and leaves the sentence structure incomplete. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a complete main clause.
