Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays everything has been advanced as it was never before on this stage. Studies level has been increased as the upgrade in all fields.

Some university student believe they should learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects. Others think that it is more important to give all their time and efforts to studying for qualification. This is really interesting topic to discuss the subjects for university students.

Qalification is really important for students and they should really pay heed to the subjects which will make them qualify for the degree. They should not try to add other subjects which didn't matter in their degree or qualification. If a student is enrolled in Computer science, he should focus on the degree subjects which will be the mail source of his qualifiaction. He should not try to add history or language subjects as his qualification could be diturbed.

However a student can add some subjects related to his field which is not that bad. A computer science student can add related subjects including Information technology, Cyber security, Arificial intelligence etc. Those subjects are related to each other and can help someone doing the computer science degree. But if someone try to add unrelated subjects, he will face trouble when managing and learning different type of subjects during his studies.

I have been in the same trouble before when I was doing my intermediate. My main subject was computer science but there were also physics as an addition in my course. That was really bad situation for me as I were never good in physics. I barely pass the physics subject which I hated as hell.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response recognises both views and gives a personal example, but it only partially fulfils the discussion task. Most of the argument supports focusing on qualification-related subjects, while the case for studying a wider range of subjects is not really explained; the paragraph beginning “However” mainly recommends subjects related to the student’s field. Your opinion is implied rather than stated clearly, and the conclusion is missing, so the reader is left to infer your overall position. The example about struggling with physics is relevant to your experience, but it does not establish why students generally should avoid additional subjects. Develop both perspectives fairly, explain your own view directly, and connect examples to the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: the opening introduces the topic, separate paragraphs present arguments, and “However” signals a contrast. The computer-science examples also give the discussion a recognisable focus. However, the overall progression is limited: the response moves from the value of qualification subjects to related subjects, then to a personal complaint about physics, without a concluding paragraph that brings the ideas together. Connections between claims are sometimes unclear, and repeated references to “subjects” and “qualification” make the argument feel repetitive. Use clearer topic sentences to distinguish the two views, link each example explicitly to its point, and finish by summarising your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main topic, with relevant terms such as “qualification,” “Computer science,” and “Cyber security.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision. For example, “Studies level has been increased” and “mail source” do not express the intended ideas naturally, while “hated as hell” is too informal for an academic essay. There are also misspellings such as “Qalification,” “qualifiaction,” and “Arificial.” Aim for accurate academic collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise wording will make your reasoning easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts at longer structures, such as “If a student is enrolled in Computer science, he should focus…” and “when managing and learning different type of subjects.” These attempts show some range, but errors are frequent and can make parts difficult to read. Examples include “Some university student believe,” “if someone try,” and “I were never good,” where agreement is incorrect. Other problems include “a really interesting topic” without the article and “different type of subjects,” where the noun form is not controlled. Practise subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms, then proofread each sentence for a clear, complete structure.
