Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the modern era, few learners want to learn additional subjects in addition to their main subject. Group of people believe that student should focus on study for academic qualification. This essay will shed light on both views such as negative and positive impacts.
To begin with, the positive impacts of studying additional subjects at high school such as sports, dance, music, cooking, stitching, fashion helps individual to learn skills that opens door for career advancement. Learner may start career according to their hobbies and own a small business to be financial independent. The another beneficial fact is that it encourage personality development. Skill development build confidence, competency, sense of humor as a consequence person become more adaptable to social changes.
To commence with, the negative impact of focusing on additional curriculum is that learner inability to meet the eligibility criteria to pass the academic performance. Sometimes, students overlook main subjects in result they failed in final exam. Hence, they need to re-submit university fee and it waste a lot of time. For the student's parents it is also a economic burden. On the other hand, nowadays every multi national company provide employment based on educational qualification. So, required academic goals are necessary for every learner to get a job. Otherwise it will lead to unemployment.
To conclude, in my opinion, learner should focus on achievement of good academic grades rather than extra- curricular subjects as it helps to get job opportunities. Students should choose courses according to their interests.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on the negative impacts of additional subjects is a bit repetitive, focusing heavily on failing exams and financial burdens. While the prompt asks for a discussion of both views, the arguments could be more nuanced and better supported with specific examples. The introduction is slightly confusing, as it states 'few learners want to learn additional subjects,' which contradicts the premise of the prompt. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of analysis is consistent with a Band 6.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'To commence with' is used incorrectly to introduce a negative point, and 'The another beneficial fact' is grammatically awkward. There is a logical progression of ideas, but the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by these errors in cohesion. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'in result they failed,' which lacks a proper cohesive link to the previous clause. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would elevate this score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'financial independent' instead of 'financially independent' and 'economic burden' instead of 'financial burden.' The essay relies on relatively simple vocabulary, and there is little attempt to use less common or idiomatic language. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of lexical variety and the presence of word-choice errors limit the score to a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('student should focus,' 'it encourage'), article usage ('the another beneficial fact'), and sentence fragments or awkward phrasing ('In result they failed'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent and occur in both simple and complex sentences. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization and verb forms, and practice using more complex structures like conditional sentences or relative clauses with greater precision.
