Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, though the opinion is underdeveloped. While the prompt asks for a discussion of both sides and your own view, your conclusion is brief and lacks a clear, definitive stance on which approach is superior. The ideas are relevant, such as the focus on professional expertise versus the development of soft skills like critical thinking. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, ensure that your opinion is clearly stated in the introduction and consistently supported throughout the body paragraphs, with more detailed explanations and specific examples to justify your reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence of the second paragraph where the link between university assignments and performance levels is slightly disjointed. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the conclusion is very abrupt and does not effectively summarise the main arguments or restate your position in a way that provides a sense of closure to the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'pragmatic skills', 'professional expertise', and 'critical thinking'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and minor errors, such as 'In this cutting edge of era' (should be 'In this cutting-edge era') and 'other subjects are importance' (should be 'important'). There is also some repetition of basic vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher band scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('education also play vital role', 'university give assignment') and incorrect pluralisation ('many degree require'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence construction that hinder the flow. To achieve a higher score, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex structures are formed accurately. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will significantly improve your performance.
