Student answer (Band 6.5)

Although some students believe that its curcial to give more time and attention to studying for a qualification, rather then learn about other subjects in addition to their main syllabus. In my opinion i lean towards learning more then one subject.

Firstly, studying for a specific field subject for a qualification, which helps to understand core of that particular domain. Thus making it beneficial to rather focus on one subject then studying many other subjects which would need more practice and would be unneccesary for your future career. The curriculum for a specific field is decided beforehand which includes only modules which are neccessary for an individual to achieve a qualification.

Secondly, in university studying multiple subjects which are co-related to your main field helps you to introduce yourself to vast knowledge about your subbordinating field. As this would help to improve your knowledge not only of your own field as well as make your understanding on degree more beneficial.

In my opinion, studying fields like engineering or commerce does not only require a strong hold on your core subject as well as subjects which adjourn them together. Which makes learning more helpful and increases your future prespects of oneself. Thus improving chances of using your knowledge not only for your field as well as boost growth in oneself.

In conclusion, students who are studying core subjects of a specific field can make a expection of studying one subject which might limit their knowledge on other things. By the time new courses with new curriculum of subjects which are essential for building more strength in that field.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the benefits of focusing on one subject, the explanation is repetitive and lacks specific, concrete examples to support your arguments. The conclusion is also slightly confusing and does not effectively summarize the main points or reinforce your position. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and provides a well-developed example or explanation that directly relates to the prompt. The ideas are relevant, but they need more depth to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear logical links between sentences. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly', the transitions between ideas within paragraphs are often mechanical or unclear. For instance, the final paragraph is disjointed and does not logically follow the previous arguments. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of incorrect word choice and spelling errors, such as 'curcial' (crucial), 'rather then' (rather than), 'neccessary' (necessary), 'subbordinating' (subordinate), and 'prespects' (prospects). These errors occasionally distract the reader. You attempt to use some academic vocabulary, but it is often used inaccurately. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic terms and pay closer attention to collocations—for example, 'adjourn them together' is not the correct usage in this context. Expanding your range of precise vocabulary will help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement, incorrect preposition usage, and sentence fragments (e.g., 'Although some students believe that its curcial...'). The first sentence is a fragment because it lacks a main clause. Additionally, there are errors in punctuation and word order that make some sentences difficult to follow. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction to ensure every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofread carefully to eliminate minor slips in grammar and punctuation.
