Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is point of debate between different categories of students It is observed that most of the students in university wants to learn about other additional minor subjects along with their major ,some students just let there focus on their major subjects to achieve degree for to seek a better job in future , in my perspective students should try to get information in other subjects rather than there major one , In forthcoming paragraph I will discuss my opinion regarding to this issue .

Studying other subjects creates more well-rounded graduates , the modern world place requires more then technical skills ,If students get access to the other subjects this factor help them a lot in future which facilitate them to improve their communication skill , critical thinking , and problem solving strategies .

Universities should encourage the students to chose at least two elective subjects, For instance if a student studied only a biology throughout her life she will not compete the world because she is unable to work on the computer but today is the era of technology at that time she face lot of issues in practical life .

Those who argue for focusing solely on the main subject believe that depth is more important then breath , universe's degrees are so expensive and competitive .so they try to focus of their field related study to achieve their deep job but they are unaware about the knowledge of other fields .

In conclusion through focus on one subject leads to experts but elective subjects prepare them for future challenges .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that elective subjects improve communication and critical thinking, the explanation remains quite general. The example of a biology student struggling with computers is relevant but could be expanded to better illustrate the 'practical life' challenges mentioned. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more specific detail or a more robust logical progression.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or missing. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within sentences, and some sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation. Improving the variety of transition signals (e.g., 'furthermore', 'conversely', 'consequently') would significantly enhance the flow and logical progression of your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'let there focus' instead of 'keep their focus' and 'deep job' instead of 'career prospects'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations. To improve, focus on using more academic terminology and ensure that words are used in their correct context. Expanding your range to include less common lexical items would help demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of the students... wants'), incorrect preposition usage ('regarding to'), and punctuation errors, such as missing full stops or using commas where periods are needed. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammar rules and sentence boundaries.
