Student answer (Band 6.5)

Until recently, there have been enormous changes in the way people's lives are affected by education. However, there are predominantly two contrasting views where a considerable number of people believe that students should learn different kinds of subjects other than main subjects, while other believe that it is important to give time to main subjects. Therefore, before commenting on decision, both the views would be discussed.

Examining the former opinion, the primary argument, the supporters put forward is sports. This is because it is widely acknowledge that when children play different kind of sports, then it plays paramount significant role in individuals development. What could be a better example than cricket in India, where tremendous of people are successful in cricket and earning in millions every year. Moreover, they also believe that technology also plays inevitable contributing factor in individual growth. Even though, there are various traditional jobs are available in market, but only those will grow in future who are familiar with technology such as artificial inteligance.

On the contrary, the letter view suggest that students should focus on main subjects. Needless to say, there are certain kind of jobs which can be done with proper education. To cite and example, the jobs related to doctors and lawyers can only be done if someone have proper degree and knowledge . Therefore, there are certain jobs which needs educations otherwise there will be a outrageous impact on society.

To conclude, it can be restated that although people have distinct view points regarding education, but i would say that extra curriculum activities is important for development of students.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding sports is not clearly linked to the concept of 'university subjects,' and the example of cricket in India is slightly tangential to the academic context. The discussion on technology is relevant but lacks depth. To improve, ensure that every point directly supports the prompt's focus on university curricula and provide more cohesive explanations for why these subjects are beneficial or detrimental to a student's primary qualification.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover,' 'On the contrary,' and 'To conclude.' However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'before commenting on decision.' Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'the letter view' (likely a typo for 'latter'). The logical progression is generally sound, but the flow between sentences could be smoother to achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors. Examples include 'tremendous of people' instead of 'a tremendous number of people,' 'paramount significant role' (redundant), and 'outrageous impact' (which carries a negative connotation not intended here). There are also spelling errors like 'inteligance' and 'acknowledge' (should be 'acknowledged'). While the student attempts to use some academic vocabulary, the lack of precision and spelling issues limit the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('there are various traditional jobs are available'), article usage ('the jobs related to doctors'), and incorrect word forms ('if someone have proper degree'). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article consistency would be highly beneficial.
