Student answer (Band 5.5)
Introduction:
Education is very important nowadays. It give us sense to talk , to eat , to walk . It gives us knowledge of correct and wrong things to which we decide good or bad for us . Education is a thing we can get at age of our life. There is no time of studying.
Body paragraph 1 :
In university , there are some major subject and other are minors subject in any degree we studying . Major subjects are like which we are studying while minors are English , Math , Computer , Science etc. Some student just focus on their major subjects but other also want to learn their minor subjects just because to get extra knowledge and gain more marks to improve their cgpa or gpa . There are 2 to 3 major subjects in any course and 4 to 5 minor subjects .
Body paragraph 2:
Moreover , other students believe it is more important to give all their time and attention to the subject for a qualification. They don't want to waste their time and also want grip in their major subjects . In this case, they will get less marks because they will not studying other subjects and they are lack of knowledge.
Comclusion:
Both subjects are important no matter is it minor or major they give us extra knowledge and skills. Sometimes, we get more marks in minor subject and less marks in major which will manage our cgpa but if we only focus on major subject and we didn't get more marks there is nothing to balance the score .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views, but the development of ideas is limited. The introduction is largely irrelevant, focusing on the general definition of education rather than the specific topic of university curriculum breadth. The body paragraphs attempt to explain the two perspectives, but the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For example, the explanation of why students focus on major subjects is unclear and lacks specific examples or logical progression. To improve, you should focus on providing clear, distinct arguments for each side and ensure your opinion is explicitly stated and supported throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'and' or 'also'. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is weak, and the conclusion does not effectively summarise the main points or provide a clear final stance. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that relates directly back to the prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive, which limits the ability to express complex ideas. Phrases like 'correct and wrong things' and 'get extra knowledge' are simplistic. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'give us sense to talk' and 'they are lack of knowledge'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the range of vocabulary is insufficient for a higher band score. You should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education to demonstrate a broader lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'It give us', 'they will not studying') and article usage. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they are often faulty, such as in the conclusion: 'no matter is it minor or major they give us extra knowledge'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of verb tenses before attempting more complex structures.
