Student answer (Band 5.5)

Education plays a vital role shaping student's mind. This encourage them to think innovative and cultivate numerous crucial traits. Thus, a lot of students believe that it is pivotal concentrate more on important subjects those are going to help in their prospect career. However, others think that learning other subjects along with main subjects are also beneficial.

On the one hand, focusing on primary subjects is not help them to gain qualification easily but also in job opportunities. They widen their horizon and they get profound knowledge of current advancement. For instance, learning and attending science lectures motivate student's critical thinking, develop fresh ideas, and get deep knowledge about various topic. As a result, youth come up with new ideas to tackle grave challenges face by world. Further, good qualification comes with various job chances as it is saying if a student pass out with good grades he will definitely get better work. Consequently, student life become secure.

On the other hand, studying different subjects like art, music, history and many more boost creativity, enhance problem-solving skill and many others soft skills. Nowadays, these skills have became significant because majority of reputed companies hire those employees which have a great soft skills like communication, leadership, team working and many more. Moreover, these subjects also unwind them after attending all tedious lectures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the second body paragraph provides specific examples like 'multilingual person' and 'soft skills', the first paragraph is less focused, with some repetitive phrasing regarding 'good qualification'. The argument is generally relevant, but the explanation of why focusing solely on main subjects is beneficial is slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully supported with clear, logical reasoning rather than relying on general statements about 'job chances'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To recapitulate', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'This encourage them' or 'Further, good qualification comes with...'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more variety to avoid repetitive sentence structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items like 'pivotal', 'profound', and 'tedious', which is positive. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'pass out with good grades' (should be 'graduate with') and 'in just seek of' (should be 'in search of'). Some phrasing is also slightly unnatural, such as 'tackle grave challenges face by world'. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but precision is lacking in several instances.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('This encourage them', 'student life become secure'), missing articles ('face by world'), and incorrect verb forms ('should not solely studying'). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent throughout the text. To improve, the student should focus on basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of auxiliary verbs in complex sentence constructions.
