Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some collage students are want to learn extra subjects or course in addition to their main subject. However, other thinks that giving time and attention to your qualification is more important. I believe that having extra knowledge and focusing in one major subject can lead to more career opportunity, but having qualification is equally important.

On the one hand, there are students who are very kin to learn new things for there mind-solving growth and interest in subject. Learning university subjects can be helpful for foundation of field but that can not help you with practical knowledge and current need of career opportunity. For example, books GTU are not updated in last 10 years, so students are learning technologies which was used before 10 years. If students gain more extra knowledge it can lead to more financial growth and job placement.

On the other hand, learning a foundation of any field is equally significant for students. Directly going to practical and extra knowledge can make students confused and hard to understand. There are many fields where qualification is mandatory in order to work in real life. For example, a doctors, pilots and scientist there are required to pass and graduate a qualification in order to work or earn money. Earning an qualification can give more career priority and motivation to learn more.

In conclusion, having both knowledge of both additional subjects and one we learn in university is equally important for personal growth of students. However, having more practical and extra knowledge with foundation can lead to multiple career opportunity, convineant for money growth and priority in job.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that extra subjects lead to career opportunities and that core qualifications are mandatory for professions like medicine, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended with more specific, logical reasoning. The essay covers all parts of the prompt, but the explanation of why one might choose one path over the other remains a bit superficial. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by a more detailed explanation or a more nuanced example that directly links back to the prompt's core tension between breadth and depth.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'books GTU' and the broader argument about extra knowledge is slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of word-choice errors or non-standard collocations, such as 'mind-solving growth', 'earn money' (in the context of professional qualification), and 'money growth'. You rely on fairly simple vocabulary, and there is a lack of less common lexical items. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education and career development. Additionally, ensure that you use words in their correct grammatical form, as seen with the confusion between 'qualification' and 'qualifications'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('other thinks', 'a doctors, pilots and scientist there are required'), article misuse ('a qualification'), and awkward phrasing ('are want to learn'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately without losing clarity.
