Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding AI is mentioned but not clearly linked to the core debate of breadth versus depth in education. The points about 'sports and leisure' are relevant but lack specific examples or deeper explanation to fully support the position. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your reasoning with more concrete illustrations and ensure that your arguments are consistently focused on the prompt's central tension between specialization and a broader curriculum.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. However, some of these are used incorrectly or mechanically. For instance, 'In the one hand' should be 'On the one hand'. Additionally, the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which makes the progression of ideas feel slightly repetitive. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words would help the essay flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is often repetitive and sometimes imprecise. You use words like 'relentlessness' (incorrectly used as an adjective) and 'carrier' (when you mean 'career'). There is an attempt to use some academic vocabulary, such as 'ubiquitous' and 'curriculum', but the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that you are using words in their correct grammatical form. Avoid repeating basic words like 'subjects' or 'students' too frequently by using synonyms or referring back to them with pronouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'students wants'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'going to my opinion'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
