Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under-length at only 84 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While the introduction attempts to outline the two views and state a position, the essay ends abruptly after only one sentence of the first body paragraph. The ideas are not developed, and the prompt's requirement to discuss both views and provide a supported opinion is not fulfilled. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure the essay reaches the required length to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is too short to demonstrate a clear logical progression or effective paragraphing. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction and the start of a body paragraph using 'On the one hand', the text is incomplete. There is no conclusion, and the lack of development makes it impossible to assess the use of cohesive devices beyond the most basic level. To improve, focus on structuring your essay into four distinct paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs for the opposing views, and a conclusion, using linking words to connect your ideas logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'subjects' and 'learn'. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'ahead to their main subject' instead of 'in addition to'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition. For example, instead of 'learn about', use 'broaden their academic horizons' or 'pursue interdisciplinary studies'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains several grammatical errors, such as 'other believe' (should be 'others believe') and 'i explain' (should be 'I will explain'). The sentence structure is simplistic, and the punctuation is inconsistent, notably the lack of capitalization for the pronoun 'I'. Because the response is so brief, it is difficult to judge your ability to use complex structures accurately. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and ensuring that all sentences are grammatically complete and punctuated correctly.
