Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that studying multiple subjects enhances knowledge, the explanation is repetitive and lacks specific, well-developed examples. The second body paragraph touches on the negative impacts of a heavy workload, such as stress and health issues, which is relevant. However, the conclusion is incomplete and fails to restate your position or summarize the main points effectively, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and a fully developed supporting argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition in the conclusion. Additionally, the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors, making some parts of the text feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your referencing (e.g., 'it', 'this') clearly points back to the intended noun.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. You use some basic terms repeatedly, such as 'subjects', 'knowledge', and 'students'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'extremely optimal' and 'excessive knowledge', which do not sound natural in an academic context. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition. Focus on learning how words are used in context rather than just memorizing isolated terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'It teach to them'), missing articles, and incorrect word order. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of missing spaces after periods and commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader and limit the clarity of your arguments. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your score.
