Student answer (Band 6.0)

Learning various type of subjects gives us opportunity to explore different angle of era, hence, many university students have aim to include non-syllabus subjects in their curriculum. However, other spill the fact that focusing on own syllabus provide a strong knowledge and skills of own qualification. I, personally believe that learning different subjects than our syllabus only expands our thinking and skills capacity in different areas. This essay will discuss both views before my opinion in the upcoming paragraph.

Some learners want to introduce other subjects than their fields, this thing not only improve their own chosen educational background but also boost their knowledge regarding different aspects, along with this, they can utilize their time learning various subjects and this automatically help them to decide their future goals. For example, many schools nowadays introduced art subject within their syllabus where students can learn painting, sketching, dancing and more. Thus, many students recognize their hidden talent which helps them to become artist in future rather than focusing on study only.

On the other hand, learning about a particular subject only help us to concentrate in our fixed study area and make us better person in a specific field. For instance, a student who pursued science background and wants to become a doctor or a scientist, he might need to focus more on own curriculum than other subjects, as a result he might be a very good doctor in the future.

To conclude, although, concentrating on fixed syllabus help us to get qualification from our field, I reiterate that learnig different aspect of life also helps us to out our hidden talents and reached own dreams.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument for focusing on a single subject is supported by a brief example of a doctor, but it lacks depth. The ideas are relevant but remain at a surface level, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting points could be more thoroughly extended to fully meet the requirements of a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'For example', and 'On the other hand' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'this thing not only improve'. While the overall structure is coherent, the use of cohesive devices is not always sophisticated or entirely natural, which limits the score to a 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'explore different angle of era', 'spill the fact', and 'out our hidden talents'. While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and the frequent errors in word choice indicate a level consistent with a 5.5 or 6.0. To improve, you should focus on learning collocations and more academic phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('learning... gives us', 'this thing not only improve', 'syllabus help us'), missing articles ('become artist'), and awkward phrasing ('reached own dreams'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is necessary.
