Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given topic suggest that students have interest about other subjects in addition to their main subjects while they should give all their attention to their main subjects for qualification.

This is one of the most important topic among the students because many students. Learning other subjects have many benefits rather than just studying a single subject. It broadens their mind let students explore new things and helps to cancel the boredom of studying same subject everyday. It can improve their learning skills in most cases students choose subjects suggested by society and their parents which cause them to lose interest in their main subject.

Learning other subjects with main subject do have benefits but it can also impose a negative impact on students career. Many students get busy in learning other subjects which match their interests completely ignoring their main subjects which later affects their career and cause low grades.

I will suggest that students should be careful while choosing their subjects and field whether it match their interest or not to stay safe from any type of inconvenience in future. Another option is that students should learn to manage time in which they can study on both subjects without ignoring the other.

For example: I choose computer science in my bachelors which was the main subject and well known in the society but I had a keen interest in learning physics so I used to complete all my work during the day while studied physics during the night. So managing my time table helped learn multiple things at time without loosing focus on the other.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the benefits of learning other subjects, such as broadening the mind and reducing boredom, the explanation remains superficial. Similarly, the counter-argument regarding the negative impact on a career is mentioned but not fully explored with depth. The personal example provided is relevant, but the overall structure of the argument could be more robust. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by more detailed reasoning or specific evidence rather than just stating the ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the flow of ideas. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For instance, transitions between sentences could be smoother to create a more natural flow. Some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the phrase 'this is one of the most important topic' in the second paragraph, which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used precisely would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'qualification', 'bachelors', and 'manage time'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'cancel the boredom' (instead of 'alleviate' or 'relieve') and 'inconvenience in future' (which is slightly vague). There are also minor errors in word form, such as 'suggest' instead of 'suggests'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('topic suggest', 'it match their interest'), missing articles ('in future'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are slightly disjointed, which affects the overall fluency. To achieve a higher band, focus on improving your control over complex sentence structures and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses and pluralization. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences will significantly improve your score in this criterion.
