Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the competitive world, individuals are highly focused on improving their knowledge by learning new skills. It is believed that some students from higher education institutions want to expand their knowledge by choosing additional subjects. While, others argue that it is more important to give appropriate time to their own academic subjects rather than spend time on addition subjects. In this essay, I will discuss both views and present my opinion.
To begin with, studying additional subjects alongside their core academic subjects can help students to develop a broader range of knowledge and skills. To exemplify this, a computer science student who takes business or learns an additional programming language such as Python can acquire valuable skills that may benefit them in their future career. As a result, students can become more versatile and may have better employment opportunities after graduation.
On the other hand, dedicating more time to their main subjects can help students achieve higher grades. However, putting excessive pressure on themselves and neglecting other valuable subjects may create barriers to their future development. For instance, a student who focuses exclusively on their core subjects may achieve excellent academic results but lack knowledge of other areas that could be useful in their professional life. In addition to this, a person learn Spanish, French as elective subject will help them to survive in other countries. Therefore, by ignore learning additional language and addition coding language will create barrier in future.
In conclusion, relying on additional subjects help students to become adaptable and provide lucrative employment opportunities. Conversely, heavily focused on core academic create a future barrier in students life. Therefore, future lives. Therefore, I am in favor of the former.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of versatility for career prospects versus the academic focus required for high grades. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat uneven. The third paragraph contains some repetitive phrasing and slightly disjointed arguments regarding language learning. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting evidence could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. Overall, the essay fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the phrase 'Therefore, future lives. Therefore, I am in favor of the former.' The use of referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'higher education institutions', 'versatile', and 'lucrative employment opportunities'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'addition subjects' instead of 'additional subjects' and 'by ignore learning' which should be 'by ignoring'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and sentence construction, such as 'a person learn Spanish' instead of 'a person learning Spanish' and 'heavily focused on core academic create' which lacks a proper subject-verb agreement. Punctuation is generally functional, but the repetition in the final paragraph indicates a lack of careful proofreading. Despite these errors, the meaning is consistently clear, and the errors do not impede communication.
