Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention job prospects and competitive exams, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the example regarding the Amazon recruiter is quite anecdotal and lacks a clear connection to the broader debate about curriculum breadth. To improve, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' behind your points, ensuring that the link between studying additional subjects and long-term career success is more logically articulated. The conclusion is brief and could better synthesize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Additionally', 'However', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear. For example, the transition between the discussion of job requirements and the specific example of the Amazon recruiter feels abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the logical progression of your ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'qualification', 'mandatory', and 'competitive exams'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'job prospective' instead of 'job prospects' and 'company gave a better opportunities' instead of 'companies offer better opportunities'. There is also a reliance on basic vocabulary. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary to express your ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('all subject are mandatory', 'it will increases'), article usage ('the minimum requirement to join in most of the jobs'), and tense consistency. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that plural/singular forms are used correctly. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures will also help improve your score in this criterion.
