Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, some university students want to learn about different subjects in addition to their main subjects while others think it is very important to give all the time to studying for a qualification. While this trend offers certain advantages in terms of experience and opportunities, it also brings notable drawbacks that should not be overlooked.
On the one hand, learning various subjects provide students with lots of opportunities and experiences. Students with extra knowledge can fit in everywhere wherever they go. For example, students having extra knowledge have chance to get better opportunities. Moreover, It makes them self-independent and confident because they get offered in various companies and organisations. This leads them towards a successful and capable person.
On the other hand, there are several negative consequences of this practices. Firstly, people who are willing to learn about other subjects instead of their main subjects, might affect in their grades. They couldn't give their full time for their study which results in failure in subjects. Despite the experience, we also needs qualification to fit in specific position. Secondly, without the proper knowledge and skills, they couldn't perform certain tasks resulting delay in work. For example, a qualified and skilled manpower is highly demanded and respected who can contribute to society.
In conclusion, although learning about different subjects can provide with opportunities and make confident, it also challenges such as delay in task and failure. Therefore, I believe it is important to have some qualification before we get into something.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the benefits of extra subjects is vague, relying on general statements like 'fit in everywhere' rather than specific, well-supported examples. Similarly, the negative consequences are mentioned but not fully explored. The conclusion is present but lacks depth. To improve, you should aim to extend your points with more concrete examples and clearer logical explanations to ensure the position is fully developed throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Firstly', which provide a logical framework. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'this practices' (which should be plural). The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the transitions between the benefits and drawbacks could be smoother to enhance the overall coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on somewhat repetitive or simplistic phrasing, such as 'extra knowledge' and 'get better opportunities'. There are also some minor collocation errors, such as 'might affect in their grades' (should be 'affect their grades') and 'qualified and skilled manpower' (manpower is usually uncountable and often refers to a workforce rather than an individual). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to academic and professional contexts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('learning various subjects provide', 'we also needs'), incorrect preposition usage ('provide with opportunities'), and awkward phrasing ('make confident'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
