Student answer (Band 5.5)

Hunger for learning is the key requirements in the student's life. Some students want to learn different subjects at a time, while some want to give their time and efforts to any one subject. In my opinion, learning some other subjects in addition have more benefits instead of single subject.

Many students wants to be multi-tasking, they wants to learn varieties of subjects at a time during their university study. Because they believe that it could help them in their career. For instance, student studying MBA with main subject as marketing. Now he also learn about finance as additional subject, this learning help him in real life job. such as planning the budget allocation for different marketing campaigns according their requirement, importance and effectiveness on end users. This way learning of other subjects helpful in the practical life.

By contrast, Some students believe that they should prioritize one subject only. Give their full time, efforts and attention to that one and mastered on it and get deep knowledge of that one subject. Such as student of management subject learn all the aspects of the subject, get the best qualification in the one subject and wants to be irreplaceable wherever they work.

Having qualification in one subject is good idea but in my opinion, knowledge of different subjects have more advantages than the one can think. Such as different career opportunities are available in practical life. Students can choose one from the many and get more exposure or can earn higher salaries. Famous personalities are always multi tasker and ready to learn more about different topics or subjects.

In conclusion, I would like mentioned that learning one or more subjects highly depends on the students ability and interest. They should given freedom to learn what they want to learn and make a career in it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of multi-disciplinary study for career flexibility versus the depth of knowledge gained from specialization. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. The examples provided, such as the MBA student, are functional but could be more thoroughly explained to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the implications. The conclusion is a bit brief and could have better synthesized the main arguments to strengthen the overall position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'By contrast' and 'In conclusion', but they are sometimes used in a mechanical or slightly repetitive way. The progression of ideas is generally clear, although some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'this learning help him', where the connection to the previous sentence could be smoother. Overall, the structure is sufficient to guide the reader through the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific language like 'multi-tasking', 'qualification', and 'career opportunities'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward word choices or collocations, such as 'Hunger for learning is the key requirements' (should be 'requirement') and 'mastered on it' (should be 'mastered it'). The student relies on basic vocabulary in several places, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while they do not impede communication, are noticeable. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Many students wants', 'they wants', 'knowledge of different subjects have') and article usage errors ('in the one subject'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that affect the flow. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy.
