IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some university students want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects. Others believe it is more important to give all their time and attention to studying for a qualification. Discuss both these views and give your opinion. Give reasons for your answer and include relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Few undergraude student have interest in others subjects ratherthan main subject beacuse, these individuals wants to gain knowledge and have a overview of pratical life. But other students believe that to utilize time and interest only in thier studies to complete thier graduation. Boys which only have attention toward thier qualification scores good grade, however they easily understand lectures and make notes.
Firstly, the students which are interested in other subjects came up with bordered mindset beacuse they wants to increase thier learning ability. Secondaly able to experience other thoughts and way of communation which helps them to enhace thier abilities. Experience other things related to real life and some kind of partical work to gain knowlege. For instance a student doing bachelor in business adminstration and interest in cyber security field so that individual must have a good mind to learn coding or other techniques. These indviduals also learned other aspects thier real life which helped them in future like ehance coding abilities and know how to built a software.
Other students only consentrate on thier specific field of study beacuse they knew if they want to improve their grades then they need full attention toward a single field. While learning in a single subject can improve your listening, writing and understanding capicity. In this case no pratical life events are involved but only you need to have a relationship with colleages which help others in projects and other activities. For example, your only focus in own your studies rather than doing other things.
In conclusion, from my perspective you must only concentrate on a single field beacuse you can easily improve your grade and have a good on your studies ratherthan, skiping main subject and interest in other studies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that learning other subjects helps with 'practical life' and 'coding,' the explanation is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. The argument for focusing only on one's main subject is also underdeveloped, relying on general statements rather than specific, well-reasoned examples. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a clear, distinct reason supported by a concrete example that directly relates to the prompt's context of university education.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Firstaly' and 'Secondaly' are used to list points, but the flow between sentences is frequently disrupted by grammatical errors. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'In this case no pratical life events are involved,' where the connection to the previous sentence is weak. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear central topic sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'undergraude,' 'pratical,' 'colleages,' 'ehance') and some awkward word choices, such as 'bordered mindset' instead of 'broadened mindset.' The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, with repetitive use of basic words like 'subjects,' 'studies,' and 'field.' To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to express your ideas more precisely, and pay closer attention to the spelling of common academic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'students... wants,' 'individuals... learned'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or contain run-on structures, such as 'Boys which only have attention toward thier qualification scores good grade.' While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative pronouns like 'who' instead of 'which' when referring to people.
