Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many university students wants to learn some knowledge about other things but other says it is very essential to pay heed only on their goal. I think we o take more time for our original subject not to any other. In below, I will give some reasons that supports both points.

First of all, many students wants to learn some other subjects and learning about these subjects brings many advantages to students such as, when students start learn about other subject that is away from their personal subjects then it helped them some relax after their education.

Learn about different subjects helped the students to gain many skills and it also play a vital role in their whole life because if a student not achieve his real goal then other skills helped him in achieving his goals. For example in Europe many countries asked their education institutes give education to students about many subjects not for only one subject.

On the other hand, many people believe that learn bout only main subject is more important than random subjects so, I have a bit agree with this statement because when a student only pay heed on his mother subject then it helped him to achieve scores.

And when students start study to one subject then it it gives them chance to achieve their goals. for example in Pakistan mostly universities force the students to choose only a major subject and make hardworking only about it. This system helped the students get high marks.

In conclusion, learn about one major subject is is very important as compare to many other subjects.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the argument regarding learning other subjects is somewhat repetitive, and the example provided about Europe is vague. The second body paragraph regarding focusing on a single subject is also underdeveloped, relying on a brief mention of the Pakistani education system without fully explaining why this approach is superior. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and specific, well-integrated examples that directly support your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In below' and 'And when students start study' are unnatural and hinder the flow of ideas. While there is a logical progression from one paragraph to the next, the transitions between sentences within paragraphs are often abrupt. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases more naturally to connect your ideas and improve the overall readability of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms such as 'subjects', 'learn', and 'goals'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'pay heed only on their goal' (instead of 'pay attention to') and 'mother subject' (instead of 'major' or 'core subject'). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in word formation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Try to incorporate more academic vocabulary and synonyms to express your ideas with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'students wants', 'other says') and verb tense consistency. Sentence structures are relatively simple, and there are several errors in article usage and prepositional phrases (e.g., 'as compare to' instead of 'compared to'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures.
