Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary era, there has been an ongoing controversial conversation between two groups of students where a wide range of students want to learn regarding another subjects instead of their major subject. On the other hand, others argue that it is indispensable to give all their time and attention to studing for qualification. I will discuss both views and give my opinion in forthcoming paragraphs.
On the one hand, there are plethora of benifits to learn others subject. First and foremost, when university students learn other subject as a consequence, they can gain skills and broad knowledge. To exemplify, board knowledge can helpful for future career opportunity which may bring employment in future. For instance, when under postgraduates have significant knowledge in other subject then it plays an extremely vital role for their achieving competitive salaries and excellent jobs in reputed companies in the future.
On the other hand, there are numerous disadvantage regarding learning other subjects. In the first place, students can easily distract from their studies. To explain, when they learn other, then they gain knowledge in else subject rather than their major subject which is highly harmful for their studies because of some studies and career require deep information in their predominant field. To illustrate, if under postgraduates have a wide range of knowledge then strong academic performance can improve competitive professions as well as salary.
In conclusion, there is no doubt that both has great significance in learning or gaining innovative skills which may useful for their academic excellence. However, I strongly agree with gaining knowledge from other subjects as well because they are responsible for better carrer opportunity in overseas.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding 'competitive salaries' is mentioned in both body paragraphs, which reduces the depth of the discussion. The explanation of why students might be distracted is also vague, lacking specific examples of how learning other subjects impacts academic performance. To reach a higher band, you should provide more distinct, well-supported reasons for each viewpoint rather than repeating similar points about career prospects. The conclusion is clear, but the supporting arguments throughout the essay could be more thoroughly extended.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'First and foremost'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'as a consequence' used mid-sentence without proper integration. Additionally, some referencing is unclear; for example, the phrase 'both has great significance' in the conclusion lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help the flow of the essay feel more natural and sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'ongoing controversial conversation' instead of 'debate' or 'discussion', and 'under postgraduates' which is not a standard term. You also repeat words like 'subject' and 'knowledge' frequently. While the meaning is clear, the range is limited, and there are errors in word formation (e.g., 'benifits', 'carrer'). To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Examples include 'there are plethora of benifits to learn others subject' (missing articles and incorrect pluralisation) and 'some studies and career require deep information' (subject-verb agreement issues). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels clunky. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate better control over complex structures and ensure that basic grammar, such as article usage and plural forms, is more consistent.
