Student answer (Band 6.0)

In some universities most of students want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects. Other belives it is more important to give all their time and attention to studying for qualification. In this paragraph I would like to discuss about both views and giving my opinion.

Body paragraph 1 :- On the one hand , focusing on only main subjects of their qualification give them best results university cources can be difficult and require lot of a time and attention. If student spend too much time on other subject then they have left less time for their main subjects so that's why their result is not coming well in their main subjects and sometimes student will fail in their main subjects . For example, a medical student needs to spend enough time studying biology and other medical subjects to become a successful doctor. So that's why if student want to be a doctor or study for their main goals then they should learn and study about their main subjects instead of other subjects .

Body paragraph 2 :- On the other hand , studying different subjects can give students usefull knowledge and skills . It can also help students to understand different ideas and become more confident . For example , an engineer student could learn about communication or computer skills . which may be usefull for looking for a job. Therefore, students can benefit from having knowledge outside their main field .

Conclusion :- In conclusion , although focusing on the main subject is important, I believe student also learn other subjects it gives them more knowledge and usefull skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion, meeting the requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding medical students is relevant but lacks depth, and the second body paragraph relies on brief examples that could be expanded to better illustrate the benefits of interdisciplinary study. The introduction is functional but lacks a sophisticated overview of the topic. To improve, you should aim to extend your supporting arguments with more detailed explanations or hypothetical scenarios, ensuring that the connection between the examples and the main point is fully articulated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there is a lack of variety in linking words. Additionally, the internal flow within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by repetitive sentence structures and minor errors in referencing. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'nevertheless') and ensure that transitions between sentences are smoother and more natural.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'qualification', 'medical student', and 'communication skills'. However, there is a reliance on simple, repetitive language (e.g., 'main subjects', 'time and attention', 'usefull'). There are also minor spelling errors, such as 'usefull' instead of 'useful' and 'cources' instead of 'courses'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and synonyms to avoid repetition, and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of students', 'Other belives'), missing articles (e.g., 'If student spend'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'their result is not coming well'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the text from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and proofreading for common punctuation errors, such as the unnecessary spaces before commas.
